Where Is The Make Up?

Tyson had a make up baseball game last Wednesday.  And on the way to the game I was explaining to them that it was a make up game because the original one was rained out.
We get to the ball field, set up chairs, and begin watching the game.  About one hour into the game, Taryn turns to me and has quite a confused look on her face.
"Mom."
"Yes, Taryn."
"I thought this was a make up game?"
"It is Taryn."
"But mom, no one is wearing any make up.  The boys don't have any make up on their faces."
I am hysterically laughing.  She thought the boys had to wear make up and that is why it was called a make up game.  Obviously she wasn't listening when I explained it the first time.  Funny girl!

Pirate Baseball

He is showing off for the camera when he should be paying attention.
Next in line for practice.
Baseball ready.  (such a cute little butt)
Here it comes!  Tyson actually caught the ball that was up in the air but my camera was early and missed the catch.  Oh well, he looks good and ready.

Here is a little video of Tyson batting.  Now, Tyson really can bat, contrary to the looks of this video, but pay close attention to his coach when he pitches the ball.  He soft ball pitches to these kids and they have to hit it some how.  Poor things.  I really like his coach, but he cannot pitch worth a darn.

Dog-sitting

Yep, we are dog sitting the Crandall's dog Meg.  It has been the best experience for the kids.  They have wanted a dog for a long, long time, but we are not in a position to get one...yet.  And since they haven't ever really been around a dog, I offered to watch my friend Whitney's dog while she and her husband went on a vacation.  We have MEG, the dog, for 7 whole days.  My kids have been learning all about taking care of a dog.  It is kind of nice knowing that we can learn with this dog and give it back in a few days.  I am not ready to take care of a dog, because let's face it, the mom always ends up taking care of the animals.  Right?

This trial run, if you will, has shown my children that taking care of an animal requires work, but they have loved every minute of it.  They have even been picking up poop from the yard and Tyson, with much coaxing, cleaned up the dog's throw up.  I have thoroughly been enjoying watching them grow into little responsible kids.

Last Day of School Party

It was Minute-To-Win-It games for the 2nd grade class of Ms. Craft, and Tyson was doing everything in his power to get the Oreo down off his forehead to his mouth.  Funniest thing I have ever seen.
The head room mom had enough party money left over from our previous year's parties that we were able to give the kids a pizza party with fun games and a LOADED cupcake.  (Loaded meaning that they had more frosting than you could imagine.)
Tyson was able to keep the balloons off of the carpet for over 30 seconds.  He was moving like a crazy person and won the game.
Ms. Craft has been a great teacher this year.  She has been good to work with and Tyson has really liked her.  Second grade is officially over and I am officially sad; my little boy is no longer little.  I cannot believe that he will be in Third grade.  (That dates me! (:  )

Taryn's Preschool Graduation

Sadly but it is true, it was Taryn's last day of preschool and graduation day.  All of us met at a wooden park in Oak Ridge for the festivities.  First we let the kids play in the sand, burying their toes and loving every minute of it.  The weather was gorgeous, perfect for a graduation outside.
Myself and Heather were in charge of games and mine was first-donut dangling eating contest.  I even sprinted for the good donuts, Dunkin Donuts with sprinkles. The funny part was watching them walk around with their mouths open like little birds trying to get the donuts.
Taryn was the winner.  I have no idea how she did it, but she got a hold of the donut and ate it off the string.
Then it was Heather's turn to showcase a game.  The kids had to kick a soccer ball around the cones, but if the ball hit the cones the kids had to do 5 jumping jacks.  Ha ha ha. It was great.
Graduation time.  The kids made their graduation caps at their last preschool class.  They colored the caps to match their personalities.  They even made tassels to go on top.  They were adorable.
Abby printed each child their own graduation certificates.  The kids thought that was cool.
Taryn was all smiles.  She has loved preschool this year and so have I.  I loved being a part of her education.  I am sad that next year she goes to a "real" preschool.  Sniff Sniff :(
I love her!  Congratulations Taryn for all your hard work this year! And a big thanks to Abby, Heather, Megan and Kristi for all the great educational and fun times this year.

CBES Field Day

Field day at Cedar Bluff Elementary is quite different than when I did field day way back in the day. Instead of the long jump, it has been replaced with the pizza box race, pool noodle throw, sack race and whiffle ball throw,  I love the modern games.  Above is Tyson getting his throwing arm ready for the whiffle ball throw.
He throws as hard as he can, and gets a ribbon for second place.  He was an inch behind the winner. So proud of him.
He is such a happy kid.  Always smiling.  He makes my day when I see that smile.
Tyson and his friend Samuel
There he goes in the sack race. He cruised down the grassy track.
At the finish line he tripped and went down.  He quickly jumped back up and finished the race one jump behind another kid for second place.
He was still happy with the red ribbon.  Taryn and I had to leave to make it to her graduation party, and we missed his final event, the fifty yard dash, which he won.  He was happy with his ribbons. It was a nice sunny day for field day.

Soccer Awards

Taryn's last soccer game was suppose to be today, but Mother Nature gave a nice down pour in the early morning hours and so the game was canceled.  But the awards ceremony went on inside the church gym.
Taryn and friend Ella eating their celebration snacks.  These girls have been friends for years and they got a chance to play soccer together.
The trophy and shiny new game ball.  She was thrilled for the awards.
Coach Kelly and Taryn.  I think Taryn liked her first sport experience, and we might get another one out of her next year.

Planting People

So as Taryn, Tyson and I were going to the Karns ball fields tonight, we passed a little cemetery beside a church.  Taryn turns to Tyson and had this conversion:
Taryn...Tyson do you see that cemetery over there?
Tyson...Yeah
Taryn...That is where they plant dead people.
Tyson..........(looking confused)
Taryn...And see the head stone?
Tyson...yes
Taryn...That is where they bury the head and then it grows into the head stone.

I laughed so hard, I nearly forgot to drive.  I love how her 4 year old mind works.  Ha ha ha.
Planting dead bodies in cemeteries, love it.

Preschool Time At Karns Firehouse

During the last week of school, Taryn's class got to go visit the Karns' Fire Department and learn about fire safety.
They received firemen hats and stickers and some good information about keeping safe.
Lincoln, Rylan, Taryn, Kate and Lauren.  These kids have been fun this year in preschool.  Next year some of them will be going to Kindergarten and some with go to a "real" preschool.  I am so glad I did this one more year with Taryn before she goes off to real school.  Makes me sad to think that my baby girl is growing up. Sniff sniff

More Hello Dolly Photos

Taryn and mom ready to watch the kids perform and root for Tyson when he sings!  Such a good family night.
The final bows.  Tyson is a little to the right of the center stage.  I think he enjoyed holding the high school girls' hands.  Hee hee
My bow.  Caryn, the director, decided that I needed to bow as well.  I kind of like the behind the scene work instead of the spotlight.  I did that part a long time ago, which is why I like this other part.
Taryn and "Dolly" Caty Davis.  Taryn loved all her dresses and big feathers, and sequines. She had to have a picture with her.  Taryn was in heaven.  So cute!

From A Wolf To A Bear

It is the completion of another year in scouts.  Tyson has completed all of his requirements and is shown, in the picture above, shaking his pack master's hand.
This is the new Bear Pack from Troop 630.  Tyson has a lot of good boys in his group and a great scout master who has made another year of scouts an awesome one.  Cannot believe that my little boy is advancing.  (Sniff Sniff)  So proud of him.
