Supermoms are Coming for You!!!

It is Ragnar race time ladies and gentlemen.  I made my costume complete with the Superman/mom emblem. Now if the weather would warm up a touch, I might be able to wear it.
Our masks for our costumes.  There is no way I can run in this, but I will wear it for pictures.  That's all that matters right?
T- 24 hours till race time.  Holy, Mother, Runners.

Starts and Finishes

Among everything else I had to do today, I had Taryn's birthday cake to make.  And wouldn't ya know it, the stupid cake wouldn't come out of the pan that I baked it in.  Arg!  I wasn't happy. So under all that pink frosting is a combined cake glued together with frosting.
I wasn't the only one who had last minute things to do.  At 7pm tonight, Tyson was making his Wizard of OZ character for his class's trunk-or-treat trunk.  So here is the beginning of his tin man.
The tin man actually didn't look half bad for some poster board, a marker and aluminum foil.  I say he is ready for he trunk.
And after several tutorials on You Tube, I managed to make Taryn a beautiful cake.  Now I just hope she likes it.

Belt Loops

My little scout has advanced to a Bear.  He has been with Troop 630 since he was in Kindergarten.  He started out as a Tiger with about 20 other boys and now is a Bear with 10 boys.  He likes scouts and has a great pack and pack master.
During their pack meeting tonight, they performed a little skit (which they threw together at the last second). They then received their awards.  Tyson completed 4 belt loops.  I am so proud of him for his work.  Some of the kids that get multiple belt loops makes me wonder if they DO the requirements, or if the parents just sign them off.  I make Tyson do every requirement during the time scouts starts to the time it finishes. This way, he can know that he really worked for his awards and didn't get them just handed to him.
Receiving his awards
He is a happy kid among his peers.
After all the packs' skits and awards it was time for the "fun" of the evening.  One of the moms put together 4 stations of games for the scouts and their siblings to enjoy.  The first one was making sucker stick ghosts using a Kleenex.  Cute idea!
Next was the spider web maze.  Tyson was able to go through it pretty fast.
When it was Taryn's turn, she had watched all the other boys go and decided that going over and under the spider webs, was just too much work.  So...she went under all of them and was fast.  Ha ha ha.
The Crete paper mummies of Troop 630.
Taryn was bound and determined to build her a mummy and one of the boys in Tyson's pack was willing to let her.  She had a ball making her mummy.
It was a well organized night.  I was impressed, even though it was 2 hours long, (just because there are so many boys) it was still good.

Uncle Mark Comes to Town

Vaughn's brother Mark came for a quick visit and to go to a UT football game. It was a blast having Mark stay with us.  He calls Taryn his "cutie patootie" and Tyson is called "blue". (The reason for that name is confidential).
My kids love their Uncle Mark.  We were able to go to Five Guys and M&M Bar-B-Q.  It was yummy.  We don't eat out unless it is a special occasion or someone comes to visit.  Thanks for coming Mark.  We miss you already!

Two Runs in One Day

It is crunch time now and I finished the last double running day of my training.  Ragnar is less than a week away; it is 5 days away to be exact.  Now it is the time that my body gets nervous and I pray the last 6 months of training will kick in when they are needed.  Although, after my run tonight, I felt a peace about this whole process.  I feel good, and the body pains are at a minimum.  I am hoping for a heathy week and run.  Pray for me!

One Week To Go

The time to run is drawing near and my fear about the whole race is becoming apparent.  I have been training for 5 months and I feel strong, but my nerves are getting the best of me and I am beginning to psych myself out.  I used to do this before my dad and I would race on the 4th of July.  He would get into my head and I would lose the race before I even started.  I knew I could beat him, but my psyche got the best of me.  Now I am starting to do it again.  I am trying to stay up beat and positive, but after all this training, my body is tired and so is my brain.  I am hoping that I stay healthy and positive.

Camp and Camo

Tyson, Vaughn, Xander and Adrian headed up to Cove Lake for an over night camping trip.
Tyson was thrilled to tryout his Camo outfit that he has had since Christmas.
They went finishing and didn't catch monsters,  but they did catch something. Kind of small?
Chairs around the campfire, what could be better!
Tyson has been wanting to camp all summer, but with Vaughn's work schedule there was never a weekend to go.  Finally Vaughn had a weekend, and it was time to spend some quality father son time. I was so glad they could get away.
On Saturday morning they went for a hike and found this turtle on the trail.  Tyson and Vaughn came home all smiles.  They totally enjoyed their time.
